Who we are

KidzJapan ("we", "us") provides a family travel map for Japan via our website kidzjapan.com and the KidzJapan mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Data we collect

• Account information: email address and name. You provide this directly when you sign up or log in with Google or Apple.
• Saved content: locations you favorite, reports you submit and map markers you create. You provide this directly through your use of the app.
• Approximate location: we collect this only when you explicitly grant permission through your device or browser. It is used to center the map and show nearby spots. We do not track your location in the background.
• Device and usage data: app version, OS, crash logs and basic analytics. This is collected automatically by the app and our analytics tools to help us improve the product.

How we use your data

We use your data for the following purposes:

• To provide and operate the KidzJapan service, including displaying the map, saving your favorites and syncing them across your devices.
• To authenticate you and maintain your account when you choose to log in.
• To display relevant content based on your approximate location, when you have granted permission.
• To process and display community reports and map markers that you or other users submit.
• To prevent abuse, spam and unauthorized access to the service.
• To diagnose technical issues, fix bugs and improve app performance using crash logs and usage analytics.
• To communicate with you about your account or service updates, if necessary.

We do not sell your personal data.

Third parties

We use Lovable Cloud for backend hosting, authentication and storage. We use Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In for optional login. Map tiles and location data may be served by mapping providers.

AI chat assistant (Momo)

KidzJapan includes an optional in-app chat assistant called Momo. Momo is powered by a third-party AI service: messages you type in the chat are sent to our AI gateway and processed by Google's Gemini large language model to generate a reply. We only send the text you write in the chat. We do not send your name, email, saved favorites, precise location, device identifiers or browsing history to the AI service. Both our AI gateway provider and Google provide contractual data protection at least equivalent to the protections described in this policy and do not use your chat content to train their models. Momo is opt-in: the first time you open the chat we ask for your explicit consent before any message is sent, and you can stop using the assistant at any time by closing the chat.

Your rights

You can request export or deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@kidzjapan.com. In the app, you can also delete your account from the Account screen.

Children

KidzJapan is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
